Governor orders flags at half-staff to honor fallen Post Falls Officer Nicholas McDaniel

Governor Brad Little has ordered both the U.S. and Idaho State flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of Post Falls Police Officer Nicholas McDaniel, who died in the line of duty on Sunday.

Officer McDaniel completed a call for service but did not respond to a status check from the communication department. Officers responded to McDaniel's last known location to find him slumped over the steering wheel of his police cruiser. Officers administered CPR, and he was rushed to the emergency room, where he was pronounced dead from a massive heart attack.

Flags must be flown at half-staff, beginning immediately until the day following Officer McDaniel's memorial service. The date for the service has not yet been set, but we will update you as soon as it is planned.

"All of Idaho mourns when we lose an officer in the line of duty. Officer McDaniel was dedicated to his community and public safety, and we are deeply saddened by his sudden passing. Please keep Officer McDaniel's family, many colleagues, and the Post Falls community in your prayers," Governor Little said.
